bacteriology/molecular biology research technician
This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to play a leading technical-support role in a multi-disciplinary research project developing bacteriophage to target bacterial disease and contamination in the seed-potato industry. Funded by Innovate UK and led by APS Biocontrol Ltd., the project combines commercial experience from leading players in the UK potato industry, with cutting-edge R&D and academic expertise. Bacterial pathogens of potatoes are responsible for substantial losses through disease, damage and failure to meet market specifications and an effective, sustainable solution is a priority across the industry.

You will be part of a small research team, based in Dundee and will be responsible for the organisation of your own day-to-day workloads, with overall tasks being planned on a weekly- to monthly basis with the Senior Researcher and other relevant project collaborators. To deliver effectively in this role you must have a biological science degree and proven experience laboratory experience of microbiological and molecular techniques.
This post is available from 1st September 2019 and is initially fixed term until 30th November 2020, although there may be the option to extend the position.
